So, I wrote a Dickhead List.

I was inspired by Kasey Chambers (yes, that Kasey Chambers), who has just published a book called Just Don't Be A Dickhead, And Other Profound Things I've Learned, and it's a sort of memoir, sort of book of little lessons, with songs from her new album Backbone scattered throughout. It's a very smart book, very un-dickheady.

I interviewed Kasey for MID where she explained that she knows she's being a dickhead when she doesn't listen to her gut, or the instinct she calls her inner foghorn, which always seems to know when something isn't right or when she's selling herself short.

Convince myself that it's not okay to look my age.

Think that being strong means being an arsehole.

Get my eyebrow pierced in a dodgy backyard place in Western NSW and leave it in until it goes all red and pus starts coming out…

Inspired by the conversation that veered all over the place between parenting and divorce and rock 'n' roll and ageing and beauty and… life, I wrote my own Dickhead List and I suggest you do the same.

It's a reminder of how much we've learned and the instinct that's actually just the result hard fought experience that often, it's easy to lose confidence in.

‘What did I do?’ One story that’s not in Jackie O’s book.

Sometimes, the scariest part of Jackie O’s addiction was waking up.

In the throes of her addiction, Jackie O remembers waking in “fear” of herself.

The radio host opened up on Mamamia's No Filter podcast about losing time to “blackouts” brought on by mixing alcohol and prescription medication.

At her addiction's peak, she was consuming 24 potent codeine tablets daily, along with 14 Stilnox sleeping pills, and alcohol.

Jackie O's slide into addiction started about seven years ago — the same time her marriage was breaking down.

It started as a coping mechanism, she tells host Mia Freedman.

“Friends would come over but they would also see I was drinking a goblet of wine, so they just put that down to going through a divorce, turning to a bit more alcohol… it doesn't warrant an intervention,” Jackie said.

It was those early days when the Stilnox had the greatest effects.

Alcohol up first, then sleeping pills throughout the day created “blackout” periods.

“You're functioning normally but you can't remember anything you did the night before,” Jackie explained.

“I'd almost wake up in fear of, ‘What did I do?’”

One moment still haunts her.

“I remember waking up one morning and I got this message from this guy and he said, ‘Yeah, that sounds good but you should be careful who you say something like that to’ and I was like, ‘Oh my God, what did I say to this guy’.”

“I scrolled back up to have a look…”

Anne Hathaway, Ariane Grande and Chappell Roan are waaaay too interesting for **their own good. Apparently.**

Is it just me, or are female celebs expected to be increasingly, well… boring?

This is why Chappell Roan has been causing such a stir since she broke into superstardom in 2024, off the back of her hit single 'Good Luck, Babe' from her skyrocketing album The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess.

Chappell is not interested in playing nice, like basically every other major female pop star.

She has become known for being vocal about how much her sudden fame has become a burden on her life. On red carpets, she doesn't shy away from biting back to the wall of paparazzi yelling out to these stunned celebs.

At the premiere of Netflix's Olivia Rodrigo: Guts World Tour concert film, she even demanded that one apologise.

"You were so disrespectful to me at the Grammys," Roan told the photographer. "You were so rude to me. I deserve an apology for that."

When she isn't taking photographers to task, Chappell has pushed back against the expectations of her fanbase, as the outspoken star declined to endorse Kamala Harris for president (but later added that she would be voting for her).

She explained her position in a video that was largely taken out of context by her critics.

What Chappell said is not particularly groundbreaking, but it was what she didn't say that drew an onslaught of hate: she didn't post a generic pro-Kamala endorsement, like other celebrities Beyonce and Katy Perry.
